Cosmascope 2.0
Cosmascope 2.0 is an immersive installation experience that I exhibited as his final degree piece in University. Over the course of studying Fine Art, my inspirations sought from rave culture and microbiology. My interest in merging the art world with music and dance formed the basis of Cosmascope 2.0, hoping to encourage the audience to move in beat with the paintings.
Cosmascope 2.0 is a collation of artworks I created through my years of study, including self produced minimal techno tracks, working with lighting, a collection of paintings; as well as curating the installation experience itself.
Attempting to emulate a rave setting in an untraditional gallery space, I scattered his paintings across every wall (including the ceiling) to engross the audience in the bouncing vibrancy from my artworks. Everywhere the eye looks there is something new to engage with.
Using fluorescent pigments in my colour palette in conjunction with coloured strobes, built the illusion of my paintings changing colour and thereby dancing to the self produced track.
Texture is important in my paintings, making them appear multidimensional to the viewer so they can get lost in them. Under the flashing lights, these areas illuminate and appear as though they are moving, heightening the theme of dance within Cosmascope 2.0.
